9. Money Making Suggestions
9.1.1. Introduction
Since the game has started, the economy has changed quite drastically. From a
few clever secrets gleaned in beta by a few enterprising individuals having the most money in EQ2, to changing tradeskills to be more difficult and removing the clever secrets, most players have trouble getting lots of money in EQ2. Now with the advent of Splitpaw and new content, that is starting to change. I suggest most players find a comfortable combination of farming and harvesting, and above all find an activity you like. If you can kill several birds with one stone by leveling, completing quests, killing named monsters and make money all at once, so much the better. With a little creativity and variety you can do this quite well in EQ2.
If you are lucky enough to have a solid group of friends, I suggest farming
instanced zones such as Nektropos Castle 1.0 and 2.0, Splitpaw group zones, and Obelisk of Lost Souls. The first two zones being instanced will assure your group of treasure and the last often is obscure enough that not many go there to make money. If Obelisk of Lost Souls (especially the Keeper of Nihility and the ?’s) are fairly overcamped, don’t despair, just find somewhere else to go.
For the more solo oriented player, I suggest harvesting ?’s and the occasional rare while doing the solo zones in Splitpaw, Harclave and Hideout. Also as I mentioned get into doing writs and farm zones appropriate to your level for normal drops and just above all keep things you find. In general, I vendor corpse loot consisting of items and stuff like blood vials, hair, bones etc, even though some items are rare and belong on the broker, most items will not sell in a timely manner and it will be more profitable to sell them to a vendor. Spells I usually vendor, but again, some are not rare enough to bother selling on the broker and I vendor those as well.

9.1.2. Hints by Level
Levels 10-20
Solo
At these levels you will not have much cash, but at the same time most spells and gear are quite temporary compared to other levels so your needs will be lessened. Save everything you find on monsters for selling to NPCs. Make sure to pick up a few bags so you can keep even more loot.
