10. Appendix: Helpful Sites
10.1. www.eq2map.com
EQ2 map is a community project and utility that allows player drawn maps and
points of interest directly into the EQ2 UI map system. Anyone can upload points of interest or help develop maps for the utility. As a player, having these maps are quite helpful as they are routinely updated and contain quite a bit of quest and monster information. EQ2 map is condoned by SOE so there is no issue there.

10.2. www.eq2interface.com
Another helpful site, the EQ2 interface site has many player made UI
modifications. Some modifications are piecemeal while others re-skin the entire functionality of the EQ2 UI from start to finish. Some Uis are of higher quality and maintain patch frequency more often than others, but as a whole the site is excellent and the forums contain many helpful individuals for newbies to UI modding to expert developers alike. Like EQ2 map, EQ2 interfaces is condoned by SOE.

this happens. Tailors also make Hex dolls for all classes that provide items for use in the activatable slots and bags for player storage. They are enjoying some profits from this as these recipes were added with the Bloodline Chronicles adventure pack. The same issues plague jewelers C if only more players had high quality armor choices for jewelry. Jewelers can make some money by making scout abilities though, but this also shares the same issues that sages and alchemists have above. Carpenters are unique and SOE has admitted they need to work on ways for making housing items more desirable for players to consume. In addition, carpenters have no consumables to make. Both furnishings and boxes can be traded between players and resold so that lessens the need for their items. Aside from rent status reduction, many players do not need or use furnishings C if they even keep a residence at all. Currently much of EQ2 housing is for roleplay and fun and many players do not choose to engage in home decorating. Perhaps in future expansions if there are adventure related bonuses to housing players will begin using Carpenter services more.

9.1.4. Harvesting
Harvesting is a good occupation for someone with lots of time and patience. The
benefits of harvesting include being able to AFK at a moments notice, needing zero preparation time to start (often can be done before raids or while waiting on a group), and at many levels it’s a very safe activity. You will make the majority of your profit from mining rares for each tier, and once your harvesting skill is maxed (currently tier 5), most of your profit will come from T4 and T5 rares. You can also make money while skilling up your harvesting by saving stacks of things that sell well on the auction house. Do a little research for what to sell on the auction house or ask crafters on your server to broker a deal with you. Also, if you plan on crafting, saving stacks of often used components will net yourself more money. With harvesting, the more patience you have and the more you make use of the auction house and other players it will greatly increase your profits.

9.1.5. Heritages
Heritages can also be sold to vendors in addition to residing in inventory or being
mounted on display in your house. As a one-time source of income, especially for items that cannot be used by a priest, heritages are quite lucrative. Also, note that all heritages can be repurchased from Shady Swashbuckler XVIII near Nektulos Forest docks. While there is a hefty profit for Shady out of the deal, if you find later in your career you wish to

items for situational use. Items such as imbued gear and bane weapons help both of these classes. Typically many useful recipes come with each large content update for these classes also. Just be aware that these two professions are often costly to raise to tier 5.

Good
Medium need classes also use consumables but due to market reasons,
overcrowding or other factors they are more of a lowered need from the best. This includes Provisioner, Woodworker, Jeweler, Sage and Alchemist. Some of the issues with Provisioner are that many players do not pay top dollar to have the best food, many players play without even using food or drink, and Provisioner crafting requires many sub combines and long harvesting times. That being said, the new Splitpaw expansion has a few soloing events that have been sparking interest in food with stats for health regen and drink for power regen. In addition, Provisioners usually have the greatest numbers on each server.
Woodworker, Sage, and Alchemist share some of the profits from consumables.
But due to scout arrows being sold in NPC stores and player made versions not being different enough from their cheaper store bought counterparts, woodworkers have long been requesting a way to make them reasonable cost for players to buy in quantity and set them apart from the NPC arrows. Woodworkers do enjoy some profits from making batons that Weaponsmiths share for melee classes and imbued wands for soloers (particularly with the Splitpaw adventure pack). Sage and Alchemists are in great need at the beginning of each major spell revamp either near a large game-affecting patch or at the beginning of an expansion. But they suffer from not having much to sell that’s a consumable. Once all people who can afford spells (for casters) from Sages and combat arts (for melee) and inks (for both casters and melee) from Alchemists have what they need in the form of Adept III abilities, the market tends to dry up for a period of time. Also Apprentice IV recipes usually are of such similar quality to Adept 1 (dropped from mobs), that most players buy the Adept 1 versions from the broker instead of Apprentice IV versions.

Fair
Tailor, Carpenter and Jeweler are of a fair need for various reasons I will discuss.
Tailor has a great deal of potential if very light and light armor sets for priests and mages in future expansions are of high quality. They could easy move into the best category if

levels by purchasing all your components from the auction house is a good way to take a profit loss at the onset as well. Most people with some starting money view this as an investment to reach the lucrative top end levels more quickly. However, if you have fewer funds or merely want to save money, harvesting your own components and a hearty attempt at selling your wares to players along the way is the best way to go. This is a more time consuming approach, but you will likely save yourself money until you can potentially save yourself a lot of money.
The only issue to this approach is market saturation or slowness may cause you to
still have to dispose of a great deal of your wares at NPCs (for some combines this is the best option anyway.) But harvesting will always yield some cost reduction. Each faction (Qeynos and Freeport) have their own crafting and trading channels you can use to help market your wares and work with other players. Also, each server has a marketplace forum on the EQ2 official forums you can use to announce your new business.
As far as selecting a craft, first and foremost do something you enjoy. While it is
true that some crafts are more lucrative at this time, you will be stuck with this profession for a long time C including all the changes that will inevitably come to each. Currently, crafts that involve making consumable items are the most profitable. I will discuss why each profession is or is not the most profitable at this time, so that if the economy changes, you can figure out why a certain profession may become more profitable with patch changes and expansions. Getting out ahead of the crowd on a new change will likely net you large sums of money in a relatively short amount of time with less effort. For example, if you noted a new expansion has crafting recipes for your craft related to a new important quest, and then made sure you were the first to have the recipes and advertising to adventurers at reasonable prices could result in good profits. You can check information for your server about the number of level 50 crafters in your chosen profession at http://eq2.strobe.org/simplefinder/. This should help in determining which classes are overcrowded. In addition, www.eqtraders.com is a good resource for all crafting information.

Best
The best are usually Armorer and Weaponsmith due to the need for attunable
gear. There are many melee classes in EQ2 and all of them are gear dependent. Often even raiding guild participants will buy gear to temporarily boost stats while waiting on that specific weapon or armor to drop. Since armor is attunable, this leads to good profits. Many of the top tier plate items are worn for long periods of time until contested raid targets drop replacements. Also, many melees like to have several sets and back up

and some are repeatable. Enchanted Lands has a few instanced zones as well for soloers providing an opportunity for loot.
Grouped
Runneye, Rivervale and Nektropos castle all can be farmed for loot through named
mobs like Shakey, Blightwhip, Drina the Mess Cook, The Cerebus, Swine Lord, and the sisters of Nektropos. There are many items and chests that drop off of mobs in Rivervale that are rare enough that players would pay handsomely for on the broker.

Levels 40-50
Solo/Duo
At this level many of the instanced and access zones provide excellent
opportunities for loot and having a partner will speed things up quite often. At 50, though there is much an Inquisitor can do solo in the game for money. Many players farm Keeper of Nihility for loot/master spells and farm ?’s in Obelisk of Lost souls for enchanted bones and glowing shards. Just keep in mind on some servers these two activities are highly popular and may have overcrowding. Harclave in Splitpaw easily can run 40g to 1pp+ per run because of dropped loot and potential of Master spells. In Everfrost, I often farm the mammoths, valkyries, and polar bears for dropped sellable items and some chest loot C just be on look out for Tundra Jack and do not aggro the Tundra Terrors.

Grouped
Nektropos castle part 2.0 with a full group has a good chance at unique loot to sell to players as well as a good chance at Master spells. Permafrost and Solusek’s Eye are good places for a group to farm named and general loot. Solusek’s in particular is often empty. Miragul’s Menagerie also is a good instance for a group to farm for a chance at a metal chest. Group Arena, Hideout, Crawlers, Alone in the Dark and if you are adventurous the x2 group raid are good sources of loot as well. At 50, performing writs at the same time as farming in Everfrost and Lavastorm will allow you to gain personal status while farming.

9.1.3. Crafting
Crafting is a long-term option for making money. Typically you will not make
money until you reach the top tier of crafted gear (currently tier 5). Up until then you can break-even or make a small profit depending on your tactics. Racing through crafting

areas of Freeport and Qeynos, some are worth more gold than others. Use an online quest guide with a rating system such as eq2.ogaming.com or eq2.allakhazam.com and look for quests with good rewards so you can make money as well as gain experience.
Grouped
There really is not need for much grouping at these levels unless invited to a dungeon like Blackburrow or Wailing Caves. Keep in mind that at this level many players are new and will have a tough time taking out the named in these areas so its probably more efficient money-wise to solo.

Levels 20-30
Solo
Soloing quests, low level heritages and solo mobs both in Thundering Steppes and
Nektulos Forest. There are also new quest NPCs near the docks in both zones that provide money and experience as well. Both Harclave and Hideout provide good solo opportunities in the Splitpaw Adventure pack. Harclave I highly recommend C it can be done at any level from 20 C 50 solo and by killing all mobs in zone you can make a lot of money.
Grouped
During these levels you can level in Stormhold and Fallen Gate for some named and quests. I also suggest the new Splitpaw zones for money. Group arena, Hideout, Filtch’s Tricks, Alone in the Dark groups and small groups and have lots of vendor sellable dropped loot. Around late 20s you can start going to Ruins of Varsoon and killing the
many named there for money as well. There are some named in the Freeport sewers such as Edgewater Drains and some quests that drops from items that are repeatable for coin and experience. Cauldron Hollow also has some good quests and challenges for 25+ groups that will provide good loot rewards.

Levels 30-40
Solo
Soloing quests and mobs are good especially in Enchanted Lands and Zek, Orcish
Wastes. Try to coordinate quests with things to kill for money for even more efficiency. The Enchanted Lands have quite a few quest NPCs at the docks that also give rewards,

9. Money Making Suggestions
9.1.1. Introduction
Since the game has started, the economy has changed quite drastically. From a
few clever secrets gleaned in beta by a few enterprising individuals having the most money in EQ2, to changing tradeskills to be more difficult and removing the clever secrets, most players have trouble getting lots of money in EQ2. Now with the advent of Splitpaw and new content, that is starting to change. I suggest most players find a comfortable combination of farming and harvesting, and above all find an activity you like. If you can kill several birds with one stone by leveling, completing quests, killing named monsters and make money all at once, so much the better. With a little creativity and variety you can do this quite well in EQ2.
If you are lucky enough to have a solid group of friends, I suggest farming
instanced zones such as Nektropos Castle 1.0 and 2.0, Splitpaw group zones, and Obelisk of Lost Souls. The first two zones being instanced will assure your group of treasure and the last often is obscure enough that not many go there to make money. If Obelisk of Lost Souls (especially the Keeper of Nihility and the ?’s) are fairly overcamped, don’t despair, just find somewhere else to go.
For the more solo oriented player, I suggest harvesting ?’s and the occasional rare while doing the solo zones in Splitpaw, Harclave and Hideout. Also as I mentioned get into doing writs and farm zones appropriate to your level for normal drops and just above all keep things you find. In general, I vendor corpse loot consisting of items and stuff like blood vials, hair, bones etc, even though some items are rare and belong on the broker, most items will not sell in a timely manner and it will be more profitable to sell them to a vendor. Spells I usually vendor, but again, some are not rare enough to bother selling on the broker and I vendor those as well.

9.1.2. Hints by Level
Levels 10-20
Solo
At these levels you will not have much cash, but at the same time most spells and gear are quite temporary compared to other levels so your needs will be lessened. Save everything you find on monsters for selling to NPCs. Make sure to pick up a few bags so you can keep even more loot. When you are done using ?’s for collection quest experience, sell the left-overs on the broker. There are a great many quests in the racial
